WASHINGTON-The latest financial celebrity to join the speakers list for CUNA’s Governmental Affairs Conference in February is Treasury Secretary John Snow. The Treasury Secretary addressed the GAC last year, just shortly after he took the oath of office. “We will again be very interested to hear Secretary Snow’s views on the Administration’s financial-services priorities in the year ahead,” CUNA President and CEO Dan Mica commented. Snow took office Feb. 3, 2002, replacing Paul O’Neill, after serving as chairman/CEO of CSX Corporation. While at CSX, he also served as chairman of the Business Roundtable, a leading business policy group comprised of 250 CEOs of the nation’s largest companies. He is also a former administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and served as co-chairman of the National Commission on Financial Institution Reform, Recovery and Enforcement that made recommendations following the savings and loan crisis of the 1980s. Snow joins Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan on stage at the GAC, slated for Feb. 22-25 in Washington, D.C.
