PASADENA, Calif. -Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. recently selected Wescom Credit Union to offer financial services to its 1,800 employees at its Cypress, Calif. facility. Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. is responsible for all of the North American operations of Mitsubishi Motors Corp., which manufactures, distributes, finances and markets Mitsubishi brand coupes, convertibles, sedans and sport utility vehicles through a network of nearly 700 dealers in the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. As part of the agreement, a Wescom ATM and postage stamp machine was installed at the company's Cypress facility. MMNA employees recently opened 47 new accounts with Wescom during an on-site visit, said Max Sucee, Wescom public relations specialist. MMNA is one of 25 Southern Calif.-based Wescom select employee groups with more than 1,200 employees, joining SBC Communications, Inc., Quiksilver, Inc., St. John Knits, Inc., Toshiba, Ingram Micro Inc. and Wet Seal, Inc. Wescom serves more than 200,000 members and has $2.5 billion in assets. A Wescom business development officer will coordinate visits between MMNA employees and Wescom Financial Services consultants and real estate representatives as well as an in-house business development coordinator. Wescom will also coordinate its New Member Rewards Program, which employees get 1,000 Wescom Credit Card Rewards Points, pre-approved overdraft line-of-credit for $250, a $50 auto refinance bonus, $150 off the processing fees when they get a mortgage loan from Wescom and free Wescom checks. MMNA employees will soon have access to Wescom's member-focused and sponsor group newsletters via MMNA's intranet. Discussions between Wescom and MMNA began when Wescom Business Development Officer Tina Covington met with human resources representatives at the motor company. Bodington identified Mitsubishi's immediate need for an ATM, discussed that opportunity with Wescom senior management and provided an overview of what the credit union could offer to MMNA. “It is an honor to be selected as the credit union for the employees of an organization with the worldwide status and presence of Mitsubishi Motors,” said Darren Williams, Wescom president/CEO. MMNA Benefits Manager Maria Beane said Wescom's “overall member-first attitude” led to the company to select Wescom. “Wescom Credit Union's member benefits, technical expertise, (and) range of financial products led to our decision to select them as our employee credit union,” Beane said. “We wanted to provide our employees with the best full-service financial institution possible.” [email protected]
