RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. – Frank Michael, president/CEO of Allied CU, Stockton, Calif. is the new chairman of the California Credit Union League. He succeeds Pat Wagner, president/CEO, New World FCU, Lafayette, Calif. Named to the position at the League's recently held Annual Meeting and Convention, Michael said, "In the coming year, I want to encourage credit unions to become actively involved early on in the political campaigns in the 2004 election cycle, to rededicate their commitment to community service, and to build the credit union brand though community service and cooperative advertising, and to ensure they are reaching out and serving every member of their community." Michael has been involved with CUs since 1977 when he served as a volunteer on the credit committee and board for Sun Pacific FCU in Richmond. He became CEO of that CU in 1982, and in 1988 he became CEO of Greyhound FCU in San Francisco. During that time, he served on the boards of several of the League's chapters, including chapter president. He's also served on the Shapiro Group advisory committee and on several League committees. He currently chairs the League's Fiscal Affairs Committee and is on the board of the Richard Myles Johnson Foundation.
