WOBURN, Mass. – EasCorp and its investment CUSO ALM First are expanding their investment academies, which they hold jointly each year. The two organizations typically hold their academies once a year at Babson College in Massachusetts. It is now adding a second event in Dallas, home of ALM First, where ALM First has a large client base. EasCorp is located in Woburn, Mass. A third academy has been added. There have typically been two academies – intermediate and advanced. There is now a third academy for beginners called “introductory.” “A lot of credit unions are sending more officials. We didn’t really have a good orientation session to financial management. Some of the larger credit unions are looking for ways to school newly elected officials,” said Alan Bernstein, SVP of EasCorp. Bernstein said it’s also becoming more common for credit unions to want to educate managers in various departments on the financials even though they’re job may not deal with managing them. “They want all their managers to understand how the credit union makes money.” The introductory academy costs $250 per student for those who register by Feb. 9, 2004, and $300 after that date. The intermediate and advanced academies cost $700 per student prior to Feb. 9, 2004 and $750 after that date. The academies in Massachusetts will be held in March and the academies in Dallas in October. For registration information visit www.eascorp.org or call Tammy Plante at (800) 428-1144, ext. 3324.
