PASADENA, Calif. – The $2.4 billion Wescom Credit Union has found itself walking a fine line because of the current strike afflicting Albertson’s supermarkets in its area. Four of the credit union’s branches are in the stores which belong to one of the chains involved in an ongoing labor dispute and strike. On the one hand, the credit union is a tenant of Albertson’s and wants to serve its members. On the other hand the credit union does not want to be seen as encouraging its members to cross picket lines. “We don’t take any position on the issues of the strike,” said Max Sucee, spokesman for the credit union. Wescom has been alerting its members about other branches near the Albertson’s and extending hours at some branches to help meet member needs.
