PSCU’s security summits have been planned for a while but have taken on a particular urgency in the wake of the revelation of fraud losses and arrests. The firm designed them to provide credit unions with an arsenal of information on how to fight credit card fraud. Three of the six meetings will be open to all credit unions, regardless of their card processor. The three-hour meetings open to the industry include: Nov. 20 in Falcon Heights, Minnesota; Nov. 21, 2003 in McLean, Virginia, and Dec. 3, 2003 in St. Petersburg, Florida. Industry experts will discuss the latest tactics used in credit card fraud schemes and will recommend specific actions credit unions can take to fight fraud using authentication, policies and procedures, training and consumer education. “There is no one preventative measure or technology that can solve the growing and complex problem of credit card fraud,” said David J. Serlo, CEO of PSCU. “What is necessary is a comprehensive program of technologies, tools and processes. PSCU Financial Services’ nationwide Security Summits help educate credit unions on how to implement an effective fraud-fighting program.” -
