COLUMBIA, S.C. – John Franklin, the president of the South Carolina Credit Union League the last nine years and who has been with the League 30 years, has resigned “to pursue other opportunities,” it was announced Nov. 19. The resignation was made effective Nov. 13 but detailed in a Nov. 7th League letter. Named as interim CEO while a search is underway for Franklin’s replacement is T. E. Delk, a part-time consultant for the League who retired from the president’s job in 1995. “The board asked me to serve in the interim,” said Delk noting Franklin’s resignation letter said he “enjoyed his relationship with the League over the last 30 years.” Apparently, said Delk, “he thought it was the right thing to do.” Franklin started with the League as an auditor progressing to assistant managing director, executive vice president and was named president in 1995.
