WASHINGTON-Like a concert for a popular rock band, all 1,700 rooms CUNA had reserved for attendees of its Governmental Affairs Conference scheduled for February were sold out between 9 a.m. and noon the first day they became available, Nov. 13. CUNA has established a waiting list and is working on adding more hotels. Additionally, some of the early reservations do get cancelled when plans get changed, CUNA said in a statement, so potential attendees are not completely locked out of the GAC hotels. "With the impact of the state bank attacks, the upcoming presidential and congressional election, and the first-ever address by Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan to a credit union audience of this size, it seems the credit union community is gearing up already for next year's GAC," CUNA Senior Vice President of Communications Mark Wolff said. Credit union representatives still wishing to make hotel reservations should use the on-line form by clicking on the GAC logo on CUNA's Web site.
