HAMMOND, Ind. – Regional Federal Credit Union has tapped Portland, Oregon-based alternative wireless service provider Consumer Cellular to help offer members discounted cellular services. Through the Consumer Cellular Credit Union Partnership plan, members' benefits include 10% off all monthly fees and home airtime charges with no restrictions and no long-term contracts. In addition, participating credit unions receive a financial incentive for every member that signs up for the cellular service plan through Consumer Cellular. As part of the partnership, Consumer Cellular manages the entire member sign up process including the creation and distribution of inserts, branch flyers and notices to credit union members. As a reseller of cellular service, Consumer Cellular buys cellular services in bulk from national carriers such as AT&T Wireless and Verizon Wireless, and resells the service under its own brand name to various market segments, including credit unions.
