JSC Federal Credit Union, Houston, Board Vice Chairman Curtis Collins has been named the Texas Credit Union League Volunteer of the Year. Collins was selected for his over 38 years of dedicated service to the credit union movement. This marks the second year a JSC FCU board member has been singled out for the award. board secretary Peggy Zahler won in 2002. MCT Federal Credit Union, Gaithersburg, Md., has honored eight Montgomery County high school students who worked as interns at the credit union this summer. Each student received a pin commemorating completion of their internship assignments, which are part of a four-year Academy of Finance educational program that each participates in. Students honored included Andrew Beverly, Bryan Castillo, Nicole Taylor, Kate Maloney, Krystal Greenwood, Ann Smith, Stephanie White, and David Cruces. Missouri Credit Union Association, St. Louis, has awarded the 2003 Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award to five credit unions. This year’s winners include Raytown-Lee’s Summit Community CU, Arsenal CU, Mazuma CU, CommunityAmerica CU and Springfield Chapter of CUs. In addition, MCUA has presented the Louise Herring Philosophy in Action Award to Raytown-Lee’s Summit Community CU and First Community CU. New Mexico Credit Union League, Albuquerque, has presented the 2003 Dora Maxwell Award for Social Responsibility to Rio Grande CU. The credit union demonstrated a strong commitment to the Children’s Miracle Network and devised unique ways to raise funds for the University of New Mexico Children’s Hospital.
