WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Kathryn M. Rospond has been named the Northeast correspondent for Credit Union Times. She will be covering credit union and financial services industry news items and feature stories throughout the region. Rospond, 33, is a graduate of the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. She spent five years as a full-time senior editor in the building and construction trade press, writing primarily for Consulting-Specifying Engineer magazine, a product of Cahners Publishing. In 1997, Rospond moved to the nonprofit sector, working as director of communications for United Neighborhood Organization of Chicago (UNO), the city’s largest Hispanic-based community group. While at UNO, Rospond was responsible for starting a bimonthly, bilingual newspaper focusing on the group’s efforts in education, economic development, citizenship and community safety. In late 1998, Rospond took the plunge into entrepreneurship and formed her own free-lance journalism business, through which she does writing, editing and desktop publishing. She currently writes for both print and online publications that address a variety of subjects, including finance, engineering, architecture, insurance and legal aid. A native New Jerseyite, Rospond returned to the East Coast in January 2002. She resides in Jackson Heights, N.Y., an area of Queens just outside of Manhattan.
