LATHAM, N.Y. – The New York Credit Union Foundation that established its Disaster Relief Fund following 9/11, sent a $2,500 contribution to the California Wildfire Fund to help the credit unions and members who suffered losses as a result of last month's devastating fires in southern California. "In the true spirit of the credit union `people helping people' philosophy, the New York Credit Union Foundation is proud to be able to support our fellow credit unionists through our Disaster Relief Fund," said New York Credit Union League President/CEO William Mellin. The fires that burned for nearly two weeks scorched more than 750,000 acres over four counties, destroyed at least 3,500 homes and killed 20 people.
