ALEXANDRIA, Va.-Following a highly successful Partnering and Leadership Success Member Business Lending Workshop held recently in Washington, D.C., NCUA has decided to take a second look at the issue on the West Coast. Even with about 200 attendees at the D.C. session, about 40 people were placed on a waiting list. Because of the high demand for information on MBLs, a workshop is being added in the San Francisco-area for an encore presentation. The second workshop planned for late March will be headlined by NCUA Board Member Deborah Matz and Vice Chair JoAnn Johnson. The key difference is that the regulation will have had some time to go into effect by then. Those on the waiting list will have the first option for the second MBL workshop. Plans are still being firmed up but it looks like the California Credit Union League will be co-sponsoring the event. Panelists are expected to share their MBL success stories, discuss how the new regulation is working, explain what examinations will focus on, offer ideas to manage risk, and explore resources available to help credit unions with their MBL programs.
