ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico Credit Union League has named Sylvia Lyon, a nine-year veteran of the League and vice president of credit union services, as its new president and CEO. Lyon, who joined the League in 1994 as a field rep, succeeds John Radebaugh, who resigned in July to become president-elect of the North Carolina Credit Union League starting duties this month. Lyon, a New Mexico resident for 15 years, has headed up education and compliance activities and served as coordinator for the League's annual Call Center Conference, usually held in Las Vegas and which draws industry telemarketing CU leaders from across the U.S. "We had three finalists for the job and we're delighted to have selected Sylvia," said Phyllis Crawford, League chairman and president of the $9.6 million Navajo Mine Credit Union, Kirtland. Lyon holds a B.A. degree in political science from the University of Kansas as well as a B.A. from the University of Missouri in journalism. She is a certified CU compliance expert and is a graduate of CUNA's Management School Before starting with the League, she was director of marketing for a real estate agency in Cincinnati and was marketing director at U.S. New Mexico The Lyon appointment was finalized at a League Board meeting Oct. 10. -
