WASHINGTON, D.C. – Credit union land is a bright spot in the American economy, at least according to the activity on Callahan & Associates' online job center. Jobs posted on the center at www.creditunions.com jumped 54% in the first four months of 2003 and have continued climbing steadily, with 218 available positions posted on the site on Oct. 10, compared with 142 at the beginning of the year. Overall credit union employment, meanwhile, has grown by 15% over the past four years, from 179,702 in 1999 to 207,309 this year, according to data analysis from Callahan. "These figures reflect the very positive conditions throughout our industry," said Callahan President Chip Filson.
