WASHINGTON – The Department of Housing and Urban Affairs (HUD) has published a new brochure, “Don't Be a Victim of Loan Fraud – Protect Yourself from Predatory Lenders” to educate consumers on how to avoid becoming victims of predatory lending. The brochure is not just targeted to those consumers with FHA-insured mortgages. It's geared to all consumers and includes a variety of information and consumer tips, as well as describing nine different types of predatory lending and tactics typically used by predatory lenders. The brochure also highlights the HUD-approved counseling agencies as an important source of information for prospective and current homeowners.
