WASHINGTON-NAFCU recently awarded Bayer Federal Credit Union President and CEO Dallas Bergl its Paul Revere Award for grassroots involvement. Bergl was very involved in the congressional race of freshman Representative Chris Chocola (R-Ind.). He participated in campaign events attended by President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney. Bergl lent a hand as well inside the campaign office making calls urging support. The credit union CEO is continuing his efforts by getting involved in Indiana's governor's race, following the death of Governor Frank O'Bannon (D). Since Lieutenant Governor Joe Kernan (D) has announced that he will not seek the seat, Bergl has mainly been aiding Republican candidate Eric Miller with fundraising and campaign work. He added that he has also been in contact with candidate Mitch Daniels (R) and feels he could also get into that campaign as well, depending upon the outcome of the primary.
