MADISON, Wis. – The IRS’ Unrelated Business Income Tax snuck up on some credit unions this year when a flurry of audits cropped up around the country. The UBIT Coordinating Group wants all interested CUs to know the facts. The group, which consists of CUNA Mutual Group, NASCUS, the American Association of CU Leagues and CUNA, is sponsoring a free Webinar at 2 p.m. Eastern Time on Oct. 29 entitled “Unrelated Business Income Tax: What it Means for Your Credit Union When the IRS Calls.” The one-hour Webinar will feature the following panel of experts: *CUNA General Counsel Eric Richard, *CUNA Mutual Chief Officer, Legal, Faye Patzner, *NASCUS Acting President/CEO Mary Martha Fortney, *Wisconsin Credit Union League President Brett Thompson.
