WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Share draft accounts, long espoused as being the hook for credit unions to become their members' primary financial institution, continue to be a strong product area for CUs despite the growing popularity of online banking. Data from Callahan & Associates show credit unions' penetration rates among their members for share draft accounts have continued to increase steadily. Penetration growth rates are still noticeably lower than they were in 1997, however starting in June 2002, those growth rates started to pick up again. (Source for all charts: Callahan & Associates)
