TAMPA, Fla. – A British Double Decker bus, which was formerly used as public transportation in Great Britain is actually Tampa Bay Federal Credit Union’s latest branch. “These Double Decker buses are extremely rare in Florida and the U.S., so we had our bus imported directly from England”, said Tampa Bay FCU Marketing Senior Vice President Eddie Hamp. In addition to having a steering wheel on the “wrong” side, the credit union’s first mobile branch measures 31 feet long, 13 feet high, and is powered by a 190HP British Leyland diesel pusher. It can seat 30 people in the upstairs deck, and 12 people in the converted custom coach downstairs. The downstairs areas have two New Account stations, a bathroom, TV and surround system, and a refrigerator and sink. A fully functional ATM is also accessible from the outside. RTS Custom Coach of Minnesota handled the custom coach conversion, and Carol Wedge & Associates created the exterior graphics. Making its debut during a joint Credit Union Car Sale at the Raymond James Stadium, which is home of the NFL World Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the mobile branch will also be made available during onsite select group signups, local parades to name a few.
