SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – National Hockey League’s Phoenix Coyotes fans will soon be watching their favorite team play at the Desert Schools Coyotes Center. The over $2 billion credit union has inked a five-year deal to purchase the naming rights to the team’s Polar Ice Entertainment Centers in Peoria and Chandler. “Desert Schools is proud to be associated with the Phoenix Coyotes and this wonderful community center,” said Desert Schools President/CEO Susan Frank. “The Coyotes play an exciting brand of hockey and have also forged strong links with the community. For more than 60 years, we have been committed to initiating and participating in programs and partnerships that contribute to the development and well being of our community. This partnership is an extension of that commitment.” Financial terms have not been discussed but the partnership will integrate the Desert Schools FCU name throughout the facility as well as in advertising and promotional activity for the Phoenix Coyotes, including exterior signage, in-ice identification, dasherboards and other signage and other collateral material. In addition, Desert Schools FCU will offer ATMs and in the future, may open branches inside the facilities. Day-to-day operation of the facility remains under the direction of Polar Ice Entertainment Inc, the Tempe-based company that opened the Peoria facility in October 1999, and the Chandler facility in July 1999. The team’s official practice in the renamed facility kicks off in December 2003.
