WASHINGTON-CUNA recently expressed their gratitude to Representatives Judy Biggert (R-Ill.) and David Scott (D-Ga.) for introducing legislation to create a commission that would combine economic and personal finance education for students. The Commission to Educate our Nation's Teachers and Students on Financial Literacy Skills (CENTS) Act (H.R. 2990) would establish a commission to weave economic and personal finance into the school systems at all grade levels. “Helping our nation's youth acquire valuable financial management skills early in life will better prepare students to make sound decisions that impact their financial well being into the future,” CUNA President and CEO Dan Mica acknowledged in the Sept. 22 letter. He also pointed out CUNA's work with the National Endowment for Financial Education.
