TUKWILA, Wash. – Boeing Employees Credit Union has teamed up with supermarket retailer Safeway to open 30 BECU Express Service Centers (ESCs) inside Safeway stores throughout the Puget Sound Region. Staffed with BECU representatives, ESCs allow credit union members to perform transactions and use free ATM, online and telephone banking services. The first two ESCs will open at the Puyallup-Meridian and Seattle-Greenwood Safeway stores in October 2003. BECU will open ESCs at the Bonney Lake and Maple Valley Safeway stores in November. The remaining branches are scheduled to open from November 2003 through 2005 in King, Snohomish, Thurston, Pierce, Kitsap and Skagit counties. BECU has also announced that it will provide financial support to Puget Sound Area schools through the credit union's new School-Aid program. Schools chosen for the program will be located in areas where BECU opens ESCs. Through School-Aid, BECU will donate five dollars to the school for each new member who joins the credit union during a designated period following the opening. Donated funds will be used to enhance student learning based on the school's needs.
