Reading Works Federal Credit Union, Wyomissing, Pa., has recently offered two $500 Academic Achievement Scholarships to members of their CU Succeed Teen Club. Winners had to be a member of RWFCU and the Teen Club, a high school senior, accepted into and/or enrolled full time at a post-secondary school, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The 2003 – 2004 school year winners of the first annual RWFCU Academic Achievement Scholarship are Amy Mietelski and Denise Alexander. Alabama Telco Credit Union, Hoover, has named Doug L. Patterson of the winner of its annual Intro Account Essay Contest. Patterson, who is a senior at Athens State University, is a History major and intends to earn his teaching certificate as well. His essay on the "War on Terrorism" earned him a $1000 scholarship.
