PLANO, Texas – IntegraSys is the new name for the former EDS-owned credit union data processing division purchased by Fiserv this July. The blockbuster acquisition brought Fiserv some 900 new data processing clients giving it about a 35% marketshare. Fiserv has seven CU data processing subsidiaries. The name was announced in Orlando at Visions, the group’s annual users conference. How was the name selected? By employees of course. Hundreds of employees (the group has 450) submitted possible names for the new unit, and while no one actually submitted IntegraSys, many played on the integration, enterprise wide, and synergy theme, said IntegraSys President Scott Butler. “We feel we’re a company that acts with integrity, and the system wide, enterprise wide theme is what we’re about with our technology,” said Butler. Butler said IntegraSys has worked hard to communicate to its clients about the changes with Fiserv, but he’s expecting a lot of questions at the conference. “We really do feel empowered now with a company that will invest in us so we can make some of the changes we’ve wanted to make,” he said. Butler said he’s spending more time than he’d like on operational issues, but that’s to be expected as things like human resources, finance, and facilities are now being handled by IntegraSys, whereas in the past EDS corporate provided the support. IntegraSys is still housed in a building owned by EDS in Plano but it is working on moving to another facility. The new name will be used in its fall and 2004 advertising campaigns. “Fiserv acquired this business unit because its strengths and commitment to clients were in line with ours. Developing its own identity provides the foundation the IntegraSys team needs to continue to deliver integrated solutions,” said Tom Neill, president and COO of the Fiserv Credit Union and Industry Products Group. In other news coming out of IntegraSys, it has relaunched its CUBICS core processing solution using the Microsoft.NET Framework, Microsoft SQL database, and a standard XML interface. Called CUBICSPlus, another new enhancement is it integrates ATM and debit transaction processing with the core in real time, versus over night in batch. Butler said this type of product launch is indicative of the investment Fiserv is willing to make into IntegraSys. Butler said the 260 CUBICS clients that move to CUBICSPlus will notice a much friendlier front end. “We had the SQL architecture and ODBC compliant database. This is going to be much more friendly on the front-end based on the openness on the back end,” said Butler. At press time, Credit Union Times was set to attend the Visions conference. More details on Visions will be provided in the Oct. 1 issue. [email protected]
