GOLDEN, Colo.-The Colorado Credit Union League Board of Directors held a planning session here September 12 to discuss what qualities they are looking for in their next CEO. Colleague Services Corporation Senior Vice President Doug Burke has been appointed to serve as acting president of the Colorado and Wyoming leagues. According to league Chairman Carla Hedrick, president of $181 million Denver Community Federal Credit Union, Burke has said “his strengths are on the business side” and that he would not seek the top post. She added that they are in the early stages of the process and had not received any applications yet. Jim Holt vacated the seat on September 4 after less than two years of service. Hedrick said that the board and Holt came to a mutual agreement that “this wasn’t the best fit for him and this wasn’t the best fit for the league.” The board released a statement that political advocacy and image would be key qualities in selecting a candidate for the top position. According to a statement from the league, the next president will bring established relationships with state and federal legislators, regulators, and state and national organizations. “It is important to us to build upon the solid foundation we have and continue our strong voice at both the state and national level,” Hedrick said in the board’s statement. “Our focus is to foster an environment in which Colorado credit unions can operate successfully.”
