ATLANTA – SecureWorks has made its first acquisition. The Atlanta-based Internet security company has purchased TesserEye of Austin, Texas, for an undisclosed amount. TesserEye operations will remain in Austin, where it currently has eight employees, and SecureWorks now is providing 24/7 network intrusion protection to the 30 customers of its new acquisition. TesserEye provides network monitoring and security for small and medium-sized businesses. SecureWorks protects more than 500 networks, primarily at credit unions, banks, utilities and health-care organizations. Founded in 1999, SecureWorks has 75 employees, most of whom are located in its Atlanta office, which also houses the SecureWorks Operations Center. "The acquisition of TesserEye is a natural for SecureWorks. We are one of the fastest-growing security companies in the country, thanks in part to the tremendous new business we are getting from financial institutions," said SecureWorks CEO Mike Cote.
