Kinecta Federal Credit Union, Manhattan Beach, Calif. has awarded $2,000 Youth Scholarships to three outstanding students: Chi-En Chien, Eric Liu, and Justin Liu. Winners were chosen for their academic achievements, extracurricular activities, community involvement, and submission of an essay on the topic: “What are your priorities for your financial future, and how could Kinecta Credit Union’s products and services help you achieve your goals?” Jefferson Parish School Board Employees’ Credit Union, Harvey, La., has awarded three local high school students $1,000 each as part of its first annual Peter C. Bertucci Scholarship Program. This year’s winners include Joseph Stephens, Michael Griffin, and Brian Roussel. Students were selected for their outstanding academic achievements and commitment to community service. Sunmark Federal Credit Union, Schenectady, N.Y., has awarded scholarships to seven area high school seniors. Sunmark FCU’s scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic excellence, non-academic activities and community involvement. Five students were awarded $500 and two received $1,000. Leyden Credit Union, Ill., has named Steve Pecoraro, Sam Dacanay and Meghan Hillertz, this year’s scholarship winners. Dacanay and Hillertz each received $1,000 and Pecoraro $500. Winners were selected based on academic credentials as well as extra curricular activities. Coastline Federal Credit Union, Jacksonville, Fla., has awarded two $500 Generations Club Scholarships to Brittany Pratt and Jessica Atkinson. Recipients were selected based on essay responses, academic achievement and community service. Raritan Bay Federal Credit Union, Sayreville, N.J., has awarded Neil Abadie a $1,000 scholarship. Abadie was presented the scholarship in recognition of his achievements and dedication to the credit union for the past five years. Deere Community Federal Credit Union, Ottumwa, Iowa, has awarded scholarships totaling $3,300 to 11 students. The scholarships are awarded based on scholastic achievement, educational plans and length of membership at the credit union. Virginia Credit Union, Richmond, has awarded $1,500 college scholarships to 25 student members. Winners of the Dorothy J. Hall Scholarship were selected based on academics, extracurricular involvement and commitment, honors and essays. Virginia CU has presented over $211,000 in scholarships since 1991 when its program began.
