BISMARCK, N.D. and SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – After more than a year of discussions, the South Dakota and North Dakota Credit Union Leagues have signed a letter of intent to merge, effective Sept. 1. Consolidation of the Leagues was discussed in earnest since last summer and was seen as an economic move. For years, the two Leagues have shared joint meetings and educational conferences, and more recently printing and marketing services. The Leagues hope to have a formal document ready for their members by December that would describe the new entity. Copies of the agreement will be distributed at least two weeks before ratification meetings to give member credit unions sufficient time to evaluate and discuss.
