ST. PAUL, Minn. – The $850 million Affinity Plus FCU saw a 93% increase in online bill pay users since the service became free on May 1. The credit union used to charge users $5.95 a month. Since eliminating the monthly fee, Affinity Plus said it added as many online bill pay members in two months as in the previous three years. There are no qualifiers for free online bill pay from the credit union. Any of Affinity Plus' nearly 120,000 members is eligible to use the service at no charge. APFCU President/CEO Kyle Markland said the decision to make the service available for free "obviously was a good one.the results speak for themselves."
