WASHINGTON – The Small Business Administration will turn 50 years old later this year. National recognition of the agency’s anniversary will kick off Aug. 1 at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Library and Museum in Abilene, Kan. where President Eisenhower signed the Small Business Act in to law on July 30, 1954. Another important event of the year-long celebration will be the SBA’s National Entrepreneurial Conference and Expo, Sept. 17-19 in Washington, D.C. In addition, at 10 public forums that will be held October – April 2004 in cities around the U.S., small entrepreneurs will be invited to discuss the needs of small businesses and what the SBA can do to better assist them. Additional information on the conference and other SBA 50th anniversary celebration plans is available on the agency’s Web site, www.sba.gov/50.
