Former WesCorp President/CEO Dick Johnson is enjoying his newfound free time, and enjoying it in warm waters all over the globe. Twice a year Johnson spends about two weeks in a warm water locale to scuba dive. A recent dive trip took him to Micronesia, on the Island of Truk, about two hours from Guam. Johnson, a military man, served 25 years as a U.S. Marine, so he particularly enjoyed this dive because the area was replete with WWII ships and aircraft taken down in the war, the bulk of them being Japanese. Last September Johnson did some diving in Indonesia on the Island of Bali. He has been diving for 43 years and doesn’t plan on stopping any time soon. “Almost all of the time I go on a guide boat with other divers. They see me and they worry about me, until I get in the water,” he said. “I’ve jumped out of airplanes, but that takes a couple of hours to get ready and you’re in the air for minutes. Diving is a long enjoyable experience,” he said. While Johnson has left WesCorp, he’s still active in the industry, helping facilitate board planning sessions and he’s working with Honda FCU to help them expand into Canada.
