DALLAS -There’s a united front here to help eliminate fraud and identity theft-so criminals should beware. The Texas Credit Union League, Independent Bankers Association of Texas, Texas Savings and Community Bankers Association and SWACHA-The Electronic Payments Resource will work together as a single entity to provide fraud alerts and other services to their respective members. TCUL CEO Dick Ensweiler says this alliance is good not only for the financial community, but for all Texans. “While we compete with each other for customers – or members as we refer to them in the credit union movement – we all want to put an end to financial crime. Together, we hope to do that,” said Ensweiler. SWACHA will handle the day-to-day management of the project. SWACHA already maintains a working relationship with more than 150 crime prevention agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which works on a continuing education program with the association. The enhanced network arrangement will be fully operational in the summer of 2003.
