CU Teaching How to Drive The Big Rigs

LONE STAR, Texas – Want to learn how to handle 16 wheels of tractor-trailer? Apply for an educational loan from the North East Texas Credit Union. The $53 million institution began offering educational loans through the Tuition Assistance Partnership Program to help students get training from the Northeast Texas Community College Truck Driving School. This came about because one of our branch managers had worked for the school and knew about the program, explained Kay Steward, CEO of the institution, a portion of whose field of membership includes the Northeast Texas Community College. “She knew that local banks participated in the program and we always want to remain competitive with the other institutions in the area,” she said. The TAPP program includes a concurrent tuition repayment arrangement designed to share the training costs between the trucking carrier and the student.
