DALLAS -Check images are no good if they’re defective. Carreker Corporation said it has a new product that can help financials find poor quality check images. Known as Image Inspector, the software uses image recognition technology and algorithms to analyze captured check images and flag and repair suspect items for quality deficiencies beyond those provided by manufacturers of check image camera hardware. Running on Windows, it is an open system, designed to inspect images from any capture system. Defects it might flag include: missing or unreadable payee lines and amounts, missing image segments, unreadable images, images that are too dark or too light, and bad tracking numbers that may indicate an out-of-synch condition. It works to make repairs to the images through workflow software that tracks the location of the original document and enables the operator to rescan.
