Spokane Teachers Credit Union , Wash., has been awarded the second place trophy by Washington CEO Magazine on its 2003 Best Companies to Work For list. The award honors workplace excellence among the best not-for-profit/governmental organizations, and small, medium, and large sized companies in the state. Every company in the state is eligible to participate. Over 100 companies submitted a corporate profile and completed an online confidential employee survey. Washington CEO magazine covers the companies, personalities, trends, and issues shaping Washington State’s economy and its readership exceeds 90,000. Heritage Community Credit Union, Sacramento, Calif., has been recognized by the Sacramento Area Human Resource Association (SAHRA) as one of the best places to work in Sacramento. Acknowledged for exceptional human resources practices, organizational excellence, and overall employee satisfaction the credit union was dubbed the first place winner of the 2003 Sacramento Workplace Excellence Leader (SWEL) award in the small business division. The Golden 1 Credit Union, Sacramento, Calif., Community Relations Officer Esther M. Klein and Senior Vice President of Marketing Dave Thompson were recently honored by the United Way. Klein was named Employee Campaign Coordinator of the Year (Private Sector) and Thompson received the United Way’s Distinguished Community Service Award. Last year the credit union raised over $25,000 through internal fundraising events. CUES, Madison, Wis., has announced that 29 credit union executives have recently graduated from its CEO Institute. The Institute is an advanced executive education series designed specifically for CEOs and senior management from credit unions around the world. Those who complete the CEO Institute program and two post-segment projects are eligible to become a Certified Chief Executive (CCE). Fort Knox Federal Credit Union, Radcliff, Ky., has been named the Best Financial Institution in Hardin County for the second consecutive year by readers of the Elizabethtown News-Enterprise newspaper. Readers picked their favorite business or institution in 66 different categories. Fort Knox FCU placed first followed by First Federal Savings Bank and Cecilian Bank in the `Best Financial Institution’ category. Wisconsin Credit Union League, Pewaukee, has recently honored a few leaders in the credit union community here. Community First CU President/CEO Cathie Tierney has been named Professional of the Year and Thomas Paul Volunteer of the Year. Each of these winners was singled out for their dedication, service and commitment to the credit union movement.
