MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin has a new secretary of the Department of Financial Institutions. Lorrie Keating Heinemann, a former banker and investment adviser, was appointed by Gov. Jim Doyle to the post, which regulates credit unions, banks, securities and other business services. She succeeds John Kundert who retired earlier this year following Gov. Doyle’s election. Ginger Larson, director of the Office of Credit Unions, will report to Heinemann. Heinemann, 41, has been working as an investment adviser at Virchow Krause Wealth Management in Oshkosh, Wisc., for three-and-a-half years. Prior to that she worked for two banks, Associated Trust Co., of Neenah, Wis., and Valley Bancorporation of Appleton, Wis. The post at DFI has remained vacant for six months. After confirmation by the state Senate, Keating Heinemann is expected to start work Aug. 18.
