DENVER – John P. Sheehy Jr., senior vice president and a 30-year veteran of the Colorado and Wyoming Credit Union Leagues, resigned June 1 due to health reasons. The 58-year-old Sheehy, who joined the Colorado League in 1973, had been head of governmental affairs, public relations, member services and operations. Citing his many contributions in the legislative and member services area, James D. Holt, president and CEO of the two Leagues, commented that “John’s shoes will be difficult to fill.,” Sheehy, who has suffered a heart condition, retired “at his doctor’s recommendations,” said the League, but he will continue to serve the trade group in a consulting capacity. Sheehy joined the League as an auditor, becoming director of education in 1974 and a lobbyist in 1975. He later was promoted to executive vice president and as part of restructuring a year ago became senior vice president. Sheehy has been serving as chairman of Gov. Bill Owens’ Council of Advisors on Consumer Credit. He has been on the panel since 1977, reappointed by three governors. He also has been a director of the Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Denver and assistant treasurer of Colorado Corporate Federal Credit Union.
