LATHAM, N.Y. – The New York Shared Service Centers and Credit Union Affiliates of New Jersey recently hosted a meeting of New York and New Jersey CU execs to explore the possible benefits of the two states partnering in shared branching. Approximately 50 credit union executives attended the event. New York has had shared branching for years, but the concept has not taken off in New Jersey. "The New York credit unions in attendance communicated interest in becoming an issuer/acquirer..All attending New Jersey credit unions expressed their interest in the concept of shared branching," said Bill Mellin, President/CEO of the New York State CU League.
