WASHINGTON-David Klavitter, an editor and communication consultant for CUNA's Center for Research and Advice, was recently named the organization's new vice president of information services. Steve Bosack, who currently holds the post, has accepted a position with NCUA Board Member Deborah Matz's office. In his new position, Klavitter will mainly be responsible for editing CUNA's online news service News Now, which he did from 2000 to 2002, and Newswatch. He will be relocating from CUNA's Madison office and start in Washington, D.C. July 7. In addition to Klavitter's current editing and consulting duties for CUNA, he also co-produces The Point for Credit Union Research and Advice (http://thepoint.cuna.org). Prior to joining CUNA in 1999, Klavitter served as vice president of marketing for $300-million Dupaco Community Credit Union in Dubuque, Iowa. During his three-year tenure, the credit union's assets grew 43%. Dupaco also was awarded the Dora Maxwell Award for Social Responsibility twice and earned two CUNA Marketing Council Diamond Awards for Community/Public Relations Event or Program. Klavitter volunteers his time performing public affairs duties for the American Red Cross during national disaster responses. He has earned the Accredited Public Relations (APR) designation from the Public Relations Society of America and is a Credit Union Development Educator. He earned a bachelor's degree in public relations and journalism from the University of Northern Iowa.
