ALEXANDRIA, Va.-NCUA Region IV Director Melinda Love will become the next director in Region VI following Bob Blatner’s retirement last month. With Region IV closing its offices as part of NCUA’s realignment, Love was going to have to move to a different position within the agency or elsewhere. As director in Region VI, now based in Concord, California, Love will be responsible for federal credit union examination and supervision activities in Alaska, California, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. Also as part of NCUA’s realignment, the Region VI office will be relocated to Phoenix before the end of next year. “Under her leadership, Region IV has seen steady progress in both the effectiveness of its supervisory program and the financial strength of its credit unions,” NCUA Chairman Dennis Dollar said of the reassignment. Before becoming the Region IV director, Love served as deputy executive director assisting in managing the day-to-day operations of NCUA at its headquarters office. Prior to that, she was the deputy director supervising operations in the Office of Examination and Insurance. She began her career with NCUA in 1986 as an examiner in Northern California. She quickly advanced in the Region VI office as a principal examiner, problem case officer, supervision analyst, and supervisory examiner. Love participated in NCUA’s management development program in the early 1990s. Love holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from San Francisco State University in Daly City, California and an MBA from St. Mary’s College in Moraga, California. She is a certified internal auditor and a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors. [email protected]
