FLINT, Mich. – Who needs to join Oprah’s weight loss club when SECURITY Federal Credit Union is setting employees on the road to good health? The $223 million credit union has recently lent a helping hand to employees fighting the battle of the bulge, the number two preventable cause of death in the United States, by partnering with the McLaren Regional Medical Center here to sponsor the six-week weight management program. Each week, participants weighed in and listened to presentations from McLaren experts on healthy eating, stress management and low-impact exercise. In addition, SECURITY FCU provided healthful foods such as salads, fruits, vegetables and bottled water for each lunch session. “Our employees find tremendous value in these sessions because it equips them with the necessary information to maintain or move toward a better, healthier way of life,” said the SECURITY FCU Human Resource Director Val Cooper. “Sponsoring programs like these not only help our employees, but also help SECURITY maintain a positive work environment and a healthier, happy staff.” SECURITY has partnered with McLaren on numerous programs dealing with stress management and weight reduction and has sponsored employee health screenings.
