Wescom Credit Union, Pasadena, Calif., has helped raise funds for the American Cancer Society through Daffodil Days. Employees assembled thousands of daffodil bouquets to be sold as “Gifts of Hope” and delivered anonymously to cancer patients in medical facilities in the community. The “Gift of Hope” donation funds cancer research, educational programs and services for cancer patients and their families. Educational Employees Credit Union, Fresno, Calif., has donated $5,000 to sponsor cancer education booths at the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life in May. Mid-Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union, Kingston, N.Y., has co-sponsored a booth with Town of Ulster Police at the annual Kingston Lions’ Expo at the Hudson Valley Mall. The booth won third place for best booth at the Expo. This is the second year that the credit union shared a booth with the Ulster Police DARE squad. The DARE Booth featured plenty of giveaways including multi-colored water bottles imprinted with both the Ulster Police and the Mid-Hudson Valley logos. CUNA Credit Union, Madison, Wis., has donated 289 teddy bears of all shapes and sizes to the Hospice Care Center in Madison and Janesville. According to the organization CUNA CU’s donation is the largest ever received. The Teddy Bear Fundraiser honors two people who had ties to the credit union. Sooper Credit Union, Denver, Colo., has raised over $1,000 for the American Heart Association. Employees sold miniature shopping carts filed with candy to raise funds. Robins Federal Credit Union, Warner Robins, Ga., has sponsored a hot-air balloon during the local Cherry Blossom Festival’s Balloon Fest. The Cherry Blossom Festival is an annual event that takes place in Macon, and the Balloon Fest is one of the featured events.
