EUGENE, Ore. – U-Lane-O Credit Union is now Oregon Community Credit Union. Gordon Hoerauf, CEO of the $593 million CU, said the name change was driven by the CU's new community charter, which goes into effect on March 31. "We went from an occupational/associational field of membership to taking in 10 counties north of us," said Hoerauf. "We had a lot of people trying to join who weren't eligible under the old rule," he said. The U-Lane-O name was derived from its primary sponsor groups which are the University of Oregon and state employees in Lane county. "We don't intend to abandon our relationship with them," he said. Hoerauf could only laugh when asked if Oregon Community CU was in a competitive environment. "Oh yes. There's a lot of competition. A lot is between credit unions and then we have the bankers in Oregon who aren't happy with us," he said.
