Staffer to Financial Institutions Policy Post

WASHINGTON-The Treasury Department named Gregory P. J. Zerzan its new deputy assistant secretary for financial institutions policy starting March 3. In his new post, the former senior counsel for legislation for the House Financial Services Committee, is responsible for legislative and policy issues related to credit unions, commercial banks, investment banks, insurance companies, and savings and loans. He also manages Treasury’s policy concerning Government Sponsored Enterprises and their regulators and insurers, as well as playing a role in overseeing the department’s Terrorism Risk Insurance Program. Previously, Zerzan served as counsel and chief counsel for the House Agriculture Committee from 1997 until 2000. He worked from 1996 to 1997 as an associate at a Portland, Oregon law firm. He earned an undergraduate degree in political science from Willamette University in 1993 and a law degree at Willamette University College of Law in 1996.
