TYNGSBORO, Mass. – For the first time residents here can wave their own flag, thanks to Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union. The $517 million credit union has stepped in and paid the $3,000 to $5,000 cost of designing and printing the town’s flags. Selectmen are displaying one of the 27 new flags, which are the first ever officially approved by the town. The new flag bears a red, black and yellow town seal on a white background. The seal contains the coat of arms of the town’s namesake the Tyng family. The coat of arms consists of a shield with three mallards on it. Above the shield is what appears to be a lion’s head or a griffin’s head. The town’s flag will be displayed at Town Hall, the schools, and in the hall of flags at the Statehouse in Boston.
