WASHINGTON -Snow did indeed make itself known during CUNA’s GAC. While heavy snowfall plagued the Washington D.C. area and other East Coast cities during the week prior to CUNA’s GAC, it also showed up at the end of the conference. Heavier than anticipated snow fall meant that one speaker had to cancel his participation because the snow delayed the schedule and more people than usual left early. “When I said earlier pray for snow, I was just kidding,” Dan Mica, CEO of CUNA, teased the audience from the stage. “You can stop now.” The snow delayed the third day’s program sufficiently that Rep. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) was forced to cancel his appearance in order to have a good chance to attend another event. “There are always a few people who leave a little early on the third day to catch flights and meet other travel arrangements,” said CUNA spokesman Pat Keefe. “This year the snow might have hastened some people’s travel plans.”
