El Camino Chapter Credit Union, Calif., has collected over 200 articles of clothing to benefit the Goodwill Industries' `Dress for Success' program. The program helps the homeless in their efforts to look career-ready when headed to job interviews. This is one of several community involvement projects being undertaken this year in conjunction with the San Francisco Chapter. Orange County's Credit Union, Santa Ana, Calif., has hosted an emergency relief blood drive for the American Red Cross. Responding to recent announcements of a critical shortage of blood supplies both locally and nationally OCCU employees rolled up their sleeves to donate blood. Financial 21 Community Credit Union, San Diego, Calif., has hosted two blood drives on behalf of Kiersten George, a six-year old aplastic anemia patient. To attract donors, Financial 21 CCU partnered with two local radio stations each donor received a Homeland Hero t-shirt, free miniature golf coupons, free scoop of ice cream and Krispy Kreme doughnuts. In addition, Kiersten's grandfather participated in an on-air interview with a popular local talk radio station to further spread the word.
