Pacific Marine Credit Union, Oceanside, Calif. has presented one lucky winner the keys to a PT Cruiser as part of its yearlong 50th anniversary celebration. In addition to the car, PMCU gave away two Sony VAIO laptop computers, and a $5,000 travel voucher. Robert Harwood Jr. Robert, an active duty Marine stationed on board Camp Pendleton drove away with the car. Community Educators Credit Union, Rockledge, Fla., has been named 2002 Business of the Year, in Florida Today’s Reaching Out Volunteer Recognition Awards. The credit union was recognized for its educational efforts and contributions to the community. CECU has raised over $70,000 to sponsor fundraising events that have benefited more than 65 different community organizations. Security Service Federal Credit Union, San Antonio, Texas, has been named the second place winner of the Texas Credit Union League’s Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award. SSFCU was cited for its outstanding partnership with the Business Careers High School Mentorship Program. Working with more than 50 at-risk students, SSFCU employees mentor students on a weekly basis throughout the school year. In 2002, SSFCU employees dedicated more than 1600 man-hours to the mentorship program. Missoula Federal Credit Union, Mont., has been named the best financial institution. Readers of the two local newspapers, the Missoulian and the Missoula Independent, have cast their reader poll ballots in favor of MFCU for the last eight years. In addition, the credit union has won “Missoula’s Choice” award sponsored by the Missoulian for the last three years.
