WASHINGTON-CUNA has been pumping up the regulatory portion of its Governmental Affairs Conference to take place February 24-26. Assistant Treasury Secretary for Financial Institutions Wayne Abernathy has been added to the long list of speakers for GAC. Abernathy formerly served in Senator Phil Gramm’s (R-Texas) office, as well as the Senate Banking Committee’s Republican office. Also speaking from the regulatory arena are the three NCUA Board members and Small Business Administration Administrator Hector Barreto. Other speakers include House Financial Services Committee Chairman Mike Oxley (R-Ohio) and Ranking member Barney Frank (D-Mass.); House Financial Services Committee Members Bob Ney (R-Ohio), Harold Ford Jr. (D-Tenn.), and Brad Sherman (D-Calif.); Senate Banking Committee Member Wayne Allard (R-Colo.); Senate Majority Whip Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.); political analyst Charlie Cook; NBC News Anchor Tom Brokaw; and Miss America Erika Harold, on behalf of the Children’s Miracle Network.
